In partnership with iLovett Films, Cooks Who Care’s "Food Is Therapy" series captures the stories, craft, and personal connections behind food and well-being. This special class is themed "Food Is Therapy" and is intended for folks looking to connect food and cooking with self care. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. Learn more at aftd.org.
Fishtown Pickles will host this special event alongside Stephanie Jeffers-Barco, aka The Culinary Therapist, who is a PA based licensed therapist, culinary therapy practitioner, and developer of The PLATE Method for expanding awareness of culinary therapy and its role in everyday mental wellness.
We will also learn about the history of pickling and the different preservation methods and create your own quick pickles in this 90 minute class for beginners in brining! Option to BYOB for a fun and interactive social gathering.
What’s included:
- Interactive exercise with the PLATE method with The Culinary Therapist, as we mindfully sample pickles
- Discussion about fermenting and quick pickling with FPP Cofounders, Chef Mike Sicinski & Dietitian Niki Toscani
- Supplies and ingredients to make two jars of quick pickles
- One jar of pickling spice
- FPP reusable bag
- One jar of Fishtown Pickle Project pickles
- Option to purchase additional Fishtown Pickle Project pickle jars and apparel
Cost: $85 per person and 100% of net proceeds will benefit The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. Reserve your space to preserve! Private pickling classes available upon request.
